Terms of Service
Last updated: 5 November 2026
These terms apply to the RebootMonitor Android app (package name app.rebootmonitor.mobile) and the website rebootmonitor.com, both made by Nordic Appworks ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.
In short: RebootMonitor is free (organizations can buy a license key for a few extra options), works offline and keeps all reboot data on your device. It shows what Android tells it, we cannot promise it never misses a restart, and you need to check that it works on your device.
1. What the app does
RebootMonitor records when the device it is installed on was restarted, shows the current uptime and a reboot history of up to 12 months, and can remind you to restart the device after the number of days you choose. It also offers a home screen widget.
2. Free app, license key for organizations
The app and all its features are free, without ads, accounts or in-app purchases. A voluntary contribution through Buy Me a Coffee is a gift: it does not buy any feature or service, and it is handled under Buy Me a Coffee's terms.
Organizations that manage devices, for example with Microsoft Intune, can buy a license key from us. With a valid key, an app configuration policy can hide the settings button and the website button, and the app shows the organization's name in place of the donation link. The reminder settings and everything else work without a key. For a license key:
- You order it through the contact form. The price depends on the number of devices and is agreed with you before you pay.
- It is a one-time purchase with no end date, not a subscription.
- It is for your own organization and the number of devices agreed. Do not share it with other organizations.
- Each app has its own key: RebootMonitor keys start with
RM1and do not work in UpdateMonitor. - The app checks the key offline on the device. Nothing is sent to us.
- We will keep a valid key working in later versions of the app for as long as we offer the app, unless a change in Android or Google Play makes a licensed option impossible.
3. Using the app
You may use RebootMonitor on your own device, or on devices you manage, such as kiosks or shared devices in your organization. If you deploy the app to devices in an organization, for example through Microsoft Intune, you are responsible for using it in line with your organization's rules and the law.
An organization that deploys the app is itself responsible for how it uses the app and what the app shows on its devices, including informing its employees and having a legal basis where the law requires one. The organization will hold us harmless against claims from its employees or other users of its devices that result from how the organization deployed, configured or used the app.
4. No guarantee
RebootMonitor can only record restarts that Android reports to it, and only from the moment it was installed. Some device makers delay or block apps in the background, so a restart may be recorded late or missed, and a reminder may arrive late; see how to fix delayed reminders. Do not rely on the app as the only monitoring for devices where a missed restart could cause harm.
Check that it works on your device
We test the app on several Android versions. There are thousands of device models, and device makers change Android in their own way, so it is impossible to test them all. We cannot promise that the app works, or works fully, on your device model.
It is your own responsibility to check that the app works as described on your device before you rely on it, for example by restarting the device once and checking that the restart shows up, and, if you use reminders, that a reminder arrives. Do this again after a large Android update. You use the app at your own risk.
The app is made for Android as supplied by the device maker and kept up to date with its official updates. On rooted devices, custom ROMs or other modified versions of Android, the app may not work as described, and we do not support them.
Organizations must first test the app, and their app configuration policy and license key, on a few devices of each model they use, before rolling it out to all devices. We are not responsible for problems caused by rolling out the app without such a test.
If something does not work, let us know through the contact form, with the device model and Android version, so we can try to fix it. We cannot promise a fix for every device.
5. Your data
The app has no internet permission. All reboot data stays on your device. Read the privacy policy for the details.
If you uninstall the app, clear its data or reset the device, the reboot history is gone. Because nothing is stored with us, we cannot get it back.
6. Changes to the app, and changes outside our control
We may improve, change or remove features of the app, for example to keep up with new Android versions or Google Play rules, and we may stop offering the app.
Google, Android, device makers and device management tools such as Microsoft Intune regularly change their systems, and we have no control over that. Such a change can make a feature, a licensed option or the whole app work less well or stop working. For example, Android may limit what apps are allowed to do after a restart, a device maker may stop apps in the background to save battery, or a device may behave differently from standard Android. We try to adapt the app in updates, but we cannot promise that this is always possible, or possible in time. We are not responsible for problems caused by such changes.
7. Information, links and services of others
The guides, such as the Intune guides, and other information on this website are general information. We write them with care, but they can be out of date after Google, Microsoft or a device maker changes something, and they are not professional advice. Check settings in your own environment, on a few devices, before you use them on many.
The app and this website rely on, or link to, services run by others, such as Android, Google Play, Microsoft Intune and Buy Me a Coffee. Those services have their own terms, and we are not responsible for them or their content.
8. Liability
The app and the website are provided "as is". As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss caused by using the app, by restarts it did not record, by reminders that came late, by the app not working, or not working fully, on your device model, by changes in Android, Google Play or your device, or by actions you took based on what it showed. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for intent or gross negligence, or your mandatory rights as a consumer. Towards organizations, we are not liable for indirect loss, such as lost profit, downtime, lost data or the cost of rolling out or removing the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount paid for the license key.
9. Intellectual property
The app, its name, logo and the content of this website belong to Nordic Appworks. You may use the app for your own use and within your organization, but you may not copy, sell or redistribute it, and you may not change, decompile or reverse engineer it or get around the license key check, except as far as the law allows.
10. If a part of these terms is invalid
If a part of these terms turns out to be invalid or cannot be enforced, the rest still applies, and the invalid part is replaced by a valid rule that comes as close as possible to what was meant. If we do not enforce a part of these terms at some point, we keep the right to do so later. If your organization has a separate written agreement with us about a license key, that agreement applies where it differs from these terms.
11. Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we will update this page and the date at the top. If you keep using the app after a change, the new terms apply.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you live in another country, you keep the protection that the consumer law of that country gives you.
If you have a complaint, please contact us first through the contact form, so we can try to solve it together. Disputes go to the Norwegian courts. As a consumer, you can also go to the courts where you live.
